About X Diamond Ranch: John and Molly Butler began the family ranching tradition that has been actively carried on since the early 1900's. Both John and Molly's presence in the White Mountains dates back to the 1880's in the Greer valley. Molly shared her generous hospitality and good home cooking with thousands at Molly Butler's Lodge, while John guided, on horseback, such well-known outdoorsmen as Zane Grey and President Roosevelt into the remote splendor of the White Mountains.

The X Diamond Ranch has continued as a working cattle ranch since the early 1900's, continuing to be solely owned and operated by John & Molly's descendants. Big Game and cattle interaction exemplifies the success of the multiple land use plan of the historical X Diamond Ranch. The abundance of game make this an ideal area to photograph and view magnificent animals such as elk, deer or bear. Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars.
